New antenatal and postnatal services commence in Nyngan

A new midwifery service has started in Nyngan, providing antenatal and postnatal care services to local mothers and families.

The new service will operate one day per week every Wednesday and will offer care for women with uncomplicated pregnancies.

Registered Midwife, Catherine Healey said she is excited to start operating this new service from Nyngan.

“Women who required antenatal and postnatal care previously had to travel to Dubbo, so it's fantastic that this service is now offered locally," Catherine said.

“Although women will still need to travel to their chosen birthing site to have their baby, they can now have their postnatal and antenatal care in Nyngan, which will greatly ease the burden of travel and stress for many local families."

“As well as postnatal and antenatal care, I will be able to assist local families with their assessments prior to booking in to their chosen birthing hospital. This previously had to be done in Dubbo or another birthing site," Catherine said.

“I'm excited to be part of this new service for Nyngan, and mothers wishing to take advantage of this should phone the Nyngan Health Service on (02) 6835 1700."

Catherine is an experienced midwife who has been providing assistance to expectant and new mothers and families for 12 years.

This service is only open to public patients, and women currently seeing a private obstetrician are encouraged to continue their current arrangements.
