Extensive repairs required at Coonabarabran Hospital as a result of catastrophic storms at the start of the year are approaching completion.

The damage caused by the storms and the flooding that followed not only required replacement of many of the fit-outs and furnishings, but highly specialised cleaning to prevent the spread of mould.

Services at the hospital have had to be moved around to accommodate the work over the past few months, requiring patience from staff, patients and visitors.

It is now expected that all work will be completed within the next three weeks, with new floor coverings now installed, the nurses’ station almost complete, and remediation nearly finished.

Staff at the Coonabarabran Health Service are looking forward to holding an open day for the community when the work is finished to showcase the work.

The Coonabarabran Health Service and the Western NSW Local Health District are grateful for the patience and support shown by the Coonabarabran community during the work at the hospital.
