If you are interested in making a difference for your community then now is the time to consider joining Nyngan Health Council.
Lesly Ryan, Health Council Chairperson said the Health Council members were committed to working in partnership with the Health Service and giving their community a voice on issues that affect the health and well-being of the community’s citizens.
“The role of the Health Council includes not only consulting with and informing our community on issues but also supporting our health service, participating in service planning, promoting health, developing links within our community, providing comment on relevant publications and attending Health Council forums” said Ms Ryan.
“In the past 12 months we were involved with the health display at the Expo with Black Dog and Community Health; we lobbied for the renal unit at the Nyngan Multipurpose Health Service (MPS) and supported some of the great projects that were being run for the residents at the MPS”.
Health Service Manager, Jenny Griffiths is encouraging people from all walks of life to apply to be a member on the Health Council.
“You don’t need to have health professional experience to join the Health Council. In fact, not having a health background means you are able to bring a truly independent consumer perspective to your role” said Ms Griffiths
The recruitment drive will run for the month of September. At the end of this time, interviews will be conducted to learn more about you and to assist in choosing the best people for the role.
For an application kit or to find out more information contact Jenny Griffiths, Health Service Manager, on 6835 1700 or drop by the Nyngan MPS.
