Oberon gets new X-ray machine

Oberon MPS has recently installed a new X-ray machine that will improve imaging services for the local community.

Kylie Evans, Radiographer, said the upgrade will benefit the people of Oberon.

"The new machine produces better images that are clearer and easier to read," said Mrs Evans.

"We are also linked in digitally to other sites across the district which means that other hospitals can view the image and we can get reports back in a couple of hours."

Oberon Hospital has been performing X-rays for 20 years and Mrs Evans, who has been with the district almost 15 years, has seen much improvement in that time.

"Our previous X-ray machine was from Bathurst Base Hospital and before that we were using a mobile machine," said Mrs Evans.

"Our new machine will mean anyone needing X-rays will get clearer results, quicker."

Oberon X-ray services are available at the hospital three days a week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Currently the service is seeing around 30 people a week for general x-rays including broken bones.

"To access the service, call the hospital on 6336 7200 during business hours and make an appointment," Mrs Evans.
