WNSWLHD Premier’s Awards Finalists
​The Western NSW Local Health District is in the spotlight again with two finalists in the Premier’s Award for Public Service. 

Chief Executive Scott Mclachlan said, “We are extremely proud of the work our staff do across the Local Health District and to have two finalist in the Premier’s Awards is outstanding”. 

The Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) Telehealth Strategy is a finalist in the Improving service levels in hospital category. This award recognises those who have worked on program initiatives, innovation or improvements that lead to more patients going through emergency departments within four hours. Supporting the Premier’s priority of achieving 81% of patients through emergency departments within four hours by 2019. 

WNSWLHD’s Tammy O’Connor is a finalist for the Anthea Kerr Award. It is a standalone award with the NSW Premier’s Awards for Public Service. The award was established in 2013 in honour of Anthea Kerr, who passed away suddenly after 16 years of outstanding service to the NSW Government Sector. 

The Award seeks to recognise future public sector leaders and is awards to a maximum of two individuals each year. The award is given in recognition of outstanding commitment in the NSW Public Service. The recipient(s) of the award receive an individually customised professional development program to assist them in accelerating their career. 

“We have so many outstanding, hardworking and talented employees across the LHD and to have two finalists in these prestigious awards is a credit to the staff. To be selected as a finalist is a great accomplishment”. 
The Premier’s Awards for Public Service recognise excellence in the delivery of public services to the NSW community but the public sector, not-for-profit organisations and private businesses. 

The award categories change from year to year to respond to the government priorities. They aim to, encourage continual improvement of systems and services to enable recourses to be used more effectively in the delivery of services.
