Dubbo Hospital staff are once again getting behind the Share the Dignity ‘It’s in the Bag’ Christmas appeal.
Share the dignity is a not for profit organisation that gives sanitary products to homeless women and fights for domestic violence victims.
Dubbo Base Hospital ED staff are helping this great cause by doing a collection drive. They have supported the three main events over the year, the April and August Dignity Drive and are now finishing it off with the Christmas 'It's in the bag appeal'.
Dubbo Hospital Registered Nurse Michelle Regan said, “The Dubbo Base Hospital ED staff have thrown their full support behind this great cause. They do collection drives during the three main events of the year: the Christmas ‘It’s in the bag appeal’ and the Dignity Drives in April and August”.
From the 16 November to 2 December staff will be collecting a range of female hygiene products for the drive.
“I am so proud of our staff and how committed they are to helping others in need, in our community,” said Michelle.
On any given night in Australia one in 200 people are homeless 44% of whom are women, and 27% are children under the age of 18.
“When you donate sanitary products to Share The Dignity, you’re donating much more then pads and tampons. You’re giving a woman experiencing homelessness or a financial crisis the essentials, so she doesn’t have to choose between food and dignity”.
“We’re also encouraging members of the community to take part and donate. There are local collection points at Bunnings Warehouse, The Western Woman’s Legal Support - the Office located at Suite 3/207 Brisbane Street, and Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre located at 1/80 Gipps St, Dubbo”.
