The Dubbo Health Service Maternity Unit would like to thank the local community for supporting the inaugural Pregnancy, Baby and Toddler Expo held earlier this year in Dubbo, which raised enough money for the Unit to purchase two recliner chairs for new mothers.
With proceeds from a donation, staff decided that new recliner chairs would be helpful for mothers as they learn to breast feed and relax.
“This is can be a stressful time for new mothers as they adjust to having a small child in their care,” said Dubbo Base Hospital Student Midwife Lydia Newton.
Student Midwife Lydia Newton attended the Expo and provided plenty of information to visitors on the day.
“It was a wonderful local event and extremely popular with local and surrounding communities,” said Ms Newton.
“These chairs will be great benefit to all of our Mums, by making them comfortable while they’re breast feeding.”
Harvey Norman Dubbo assisted by delivering the chairs to the Unit and sourcing a suitable supplier.
“We’re extremely thankful to the community for getting behind this initiative,” said Ms Newton.
