Community consultation about the Cowra Clinical Service Plan will start on Tuesday 16 June 2020.
The NSW Government has committed to invest $70.2 million to upgrade the Cowra Hospital. The community's input and needs will play a big part in shaping the way health services in Cowra are delivered in the future.
Cowra Health Service Manager Pauline Rowston says hearing from the community and local stakeholders is an important part of determining future health needs and access to health services.
“Understanding the needs of our local people now and into the future is an essential part of planning to build a hospital fit for regional health needs," she said.
“We want to know what services people use, their experiences using these services and ways we can improve our health network."
The process is part of informing the Cowra Clinical Services Plan. The Plan will take into consideration the community's health needs over the next 10 years and help determine requirements for a hospital site, the role of the hospital within the District and the range of health care services provided.
“The Clinical Services Plan will not only consider what services are needed in the area, but also their locality to one another to improve accessibility and convenience," Ms Rowston said.
Earlier this year, Chair of the Cowra Health Advisory Council, Don Reid invited the community to complete a short survey to understand the current and future health needs of the community.
“The data gathered from the preliminary survey was used to inform the current consultation process," said Mr Reid.
“The local Health Advisory Council appreciate the feedback from the community to date and encourage everyone to continue to have their say about health services in Cowra during this next stage of consultation," he said.
The consultation will be open from Tuesday 16 June to Friday 24 July 2020. People can provide input into the consultation a number of ways including attending a community drop in session and filling out an online survey.
