The Orange Health Service is grateful to Newcrest Mining Cadia Valley Operations, for the very generous donation of almost $17 000.
Orange Health Service General Manager, Catherine Nowlan, said, “The money has been used to purchase protective equipment.
“This equipment will be worn by clinical staff during procedures to enable clinicians to safely preform procedures such as intubation of patients ensuring limited exposure for staff to droplet infection", Catherine said.
When staff are required to work with patients who are COVID-19 positive or COVID-19 symptomatic the Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) guidelines prescribe the safe working practices required using of Person Protect equipment.
“We would like to thank Cadia for their generous donation enabling us to purchase the equipment and also the donations of meals for our staff working in the respiratory/COVID-19 ward.
Newcrest Mining Cadia Valley Operations Acting General Manager, Aaron Brannigan, said the donation of the specialty face mask has ensured frontline medical staff feel safe as they care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Community Partnership Program is designed to provide assistance to our local community, especially during this pandemic. We couldn't think of a better way to support the health and wellbeing of our community than purchasing personal protective equipment for those doctors and nurses directly exposed to the virus," Aaron said.
Cadia continues to provide financial and in-kind support to the hospital and its staff during the COVID-19 crisis.
“The Orange Health Service team have been very humbled by the generosity of the Orange community for all the recent donations and kind and thoughtful expressions of appreciation of our health staff". Catherine said.
