Donations deliver new equipment for Orange health service

Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donations to Orange Health Service have delivered exciting new medical equipment for the hospital.

Chair of the Orange Health Service Instrument and Equipment Committee, Dr Peter Bilenkij, said various community groups, volunteers and local businesses are responsible for the purchase of many state of the art pieces.

“These generous groups have donated very significant amounts of money to the hospital and the funds have been strategically allocated for the purchase of a wide range of equipment.

“We wish to thank everyone who has not only donated money but their invaluable time towards this fund raising for the hospital. The funds are directed to purchase items for areas including the Emergency Department, Operating Theatres, Intensive Care Unit, Women’s and Infants and beyond.” Dr Bilenkij said.

Orange Health Service will host a morning tea on Wednesday 7 March 2012, to thank the groups who have fund-raised and donated to the hospital.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to not only thank the people who have worked tirelessly and donated their time and money to the hospital, but it is also a chance for us to showcase some of the equipment that their donations have purchased,” said Dr Bilenkij.

Representatives from the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW Orange Branch, Cadia Valley Operations, the Blue Ladies, Orange Premi-Babes Association, Friends Assisting the Community, 2GZ Radio and McCormack Barber Real Estate will be attending the function.

The Auxiliary donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to the hospital and last year raised and donated in excess of $260,000 in 2011. Cadia Valley Operations also kindly donates $50,000 each year, which has purchased many pieces of equipment over the years.

“As you can see, we are very lucky to have so many caring and generous people in the community that are willing to contribute to the Health Service.

“These contributions position Orange Health Service as a leader in health care provision and the executive, staff and patients are all very grateful.” Dr Bilenkij said.
