Lachlan Health Service – Parkes Campus, is pleased to welcome Karen Haertsch to the position of Nursing Unit Manager – Acute Care Services – Emergency Department and Bushmans Ward.
Karen commenced duties on Monday 12 March 2012, said Mrs Hunter, Nurse Manager.
Karen completed her training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 1981 and has since worked in various fields of nursing throughout NSW. She previously has held the position of Clinical Nurse Specialist for Rural Critical Care, Acting Nurse Manager and Nursing Unit Manager for Day Surgery.
Before moving to Parkes, Karen worked as the Clinical Team Leader in the community of Grafton caring for War Veterans. Karen said “I have a keen interest in rural health and am very excited about working at Parkes, which also allows me to be closer to my family who all live in the Central West region”.
Mrs Hunter and the nursing team at Parkes Campus are looking forward to working with Karen. Mrs Hunter would also like to acknowledge the support and assistance provided by Alison Gransden, Registered Nurse who has been in the Acting NUM role for a period of 7 months.
Parkes Campus is also grateful to the assistance given by Parkes Shire Council in providing funds to assist Karen with her relocation expenses.
