Representatives from Health Infrastructure and project consultants are on site at the Lachlan Health Service in Parkes and Forbes this week to undertake site inspections at both hospital campuses.
The visits come as the Western NSW Local Health District also moves to finalise the service model for the Lachlan Health Service.
“We are very excited to have the project team visiting the towns to evaluate the suitability of the existing campuses and other greenfield sites,” said Western NSW Local Health District Chief Executive, Ron Dunham.
The NSW Government has committed to a redeveloped hospital for Parkes and a refurbishment of Forbes Hospital with $2.3 million allocated to planning in the 2012-2013 Budget.
“A number of sites for the Parkes campus of the Lachlan Health Service will be earmarked by Health Infrastructure and assessed for their suitability,” said Mr Dunham.
“Planning is also commencing for the refurbishment of the Forbes campus,” he said.
The following consultants have been engaged to commence facility planning including Project Manager - TSA Management; Architect - Rice Daubney; Cost Planner - MBM. Engineering consultants will also be tendered shortly.
Service planning for the Lachlan Health Service project began in February 2012.
“Local clinicians and the Lachlan Health Council will have significant input to the planning and design of the facilities through rigorous user group processes,” said Mr Dunham.
“We plan to keep the staff and community well informed about every stage of the project,” he said.
“It is exciting to have the project underway and we look forward to working with the staff and the community in the next phase of the planning of service delivery.”
