With the NSW government committed to devolving decision making to the local area, now more than ever Health Councils play an important role in health service planning.
Health Councils give an opportunity for local people to work with Health Service Managers and Planners to identify the needs of their community and the services that are required.
Mudgee Health Council Chair, Judy Blackman said the Health Council currently has a number of vacancies and has been pleased with the interest shown but would now like to give all members of the community the opportunity to apply.
“Our Health Council members are committed to giving their community a voice on issues that affect the health and well-being of its citizens.” Ms Blackman said.
Acting Health Service Manager, Gwenda Ingram, is encouraging people from all walks of life to apply to be a member of the Health Council so that there is a broad representation of the community and a good mix of skills and experience.
At a minimum, membership requires attendance to monthly Health Council meetings, but there is also opportunity to participate on committees and be involved in relevant workshops and consultations.
Applications must be in by Monday 6th August.
For an application kit or to find out more information contact Illona Parnaby, Community Engagement Co-ordinator, Western NSW Local Health District on (02) 6370 7804.
