The Coonamble Men’s Shed have come to the assistance of Coonamble Community Health by making a more durable education resource in the form of an ear puzzle.
Ms Robyn Hull, Child and Family Health nurse and audiometry nurse at Community Health has been using a cardboard puzzle of the ear for many years to help educate preschool children about how the ear works.
Due to many years of use some of the pieces were close to breaking as they are narrow at some points.
Ms Hull approached the Coonamble Men’s Shed to see whether it would be possible for them to recreate the puzzle in timber so that it may last for many more years. The Men’s’ Shed agreed to attempt the project.
After 6 months of hard work by the Men’s’ Shed, Ms Hull was very pleased to take delivery of the finished project which was completed by Mr Hans Ptazinski.
She is looking forward to using the puzzle in educating students in a school based program in the next couple of weeks.
“We are very grateful to the Men’s Shed and Mr Ptazinski for our new puzzle and it will be put to good use in the years to come,” said Ms Hull.
