New Midwifery Unit For Lachlan Health Service

Midwife Johanne Burke will oversee the operation of the Lachlan Health Service maternity service following her appointment as Midwifery Unit Manager last week.

With almost 40 years experience as a midwife, Johanne is looking forward to delivering a safe and effective maternity service in both Parks and Forbes.

As part of her new role Johanne will oversee the implementation of a collaborative midwifery model of care across both campuses – Parks and Forbes.

“I have been acting in the role for six months which was a great way to get an understanding of the service and the communities and I am looking forward to the exciting opportunities that will arise from the Lachlan Health Service redevelopment,” she said.

Johanne Burke started nursing in 1974 where she undertook three years of general training in Parks.  She trained as a midwife at Nepean Hospital in 1979 and returned to the local region in 1980.
