To raise awareness of men’s health issues and encourage men to be proactive about their health, a free information and education day is being held on Thursday, 13 June 2013 from 10am – 2pm at Memorial Park, Brewarrina.
The event will cover general health information as well as mental health, and sexual and reproductive health issues, said Daniel Kelly, Primary Health Care Worker.
“One in three men has a sexual and reproductive health problem, and one in eight men experience depression,” said Mr Kelly.
“Educating the Brewarrina community on men’s health issues is important because of the impact on relationships, family and quality of life.
“Providing information on these men’s health problems will help men know when to seek advice from a health provider or their GP, and also helps partners to understand these conditions.”
This event is being hosted by Western NSW LHD, Brewarrina Aboriginal Health Service Ltd, Bourke Aboriginal Health Service, Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service, and Orana Haven, with support from Far West Medicare Local.
A barbecue/stew will be available for lunch on the day to men / youth who visit all the information tables.
For more information please contact Daniel Kelly at Brewarrina MPS on 02 6820 5000.
