Anyone in the Orange region who has experienced a mental health issue is invited to attend a Consumer Forum being hosted by the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service (MHDA) of the Western NSW Local Health District.
“The purpose of the forum is to bring together people with a lived experience of mental illness or drug and alcohol issues, who would be interested in casual roles as consumer representatives with the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service,” said Jenny Coleman, Consumer Consultant.
“People with a lived experience of mental illness have unique expertise and understanding and the service is seeking greater input from consumers. This is an opportunity for consumers to make a difference and help improve the design, delivery and evaluation of local services. There is an opening here for people to be involved on both a voluntary and casual basis,” said Ms Coleman.
The free Consumer Forum will be held in the West Room of the Orange Regional Gallery, Byng Street on Wednesday, 26th June 10.00am – 1.00pm.
Consumers from the local region will participate in round table discussions at the forum and gain some information about what’s happening, to see if they’re interested in helping shape local Mental Health Drug & Alcohol services, said Ms Coleman.
“So if you are a consumer and you would like to have a say on issues relevant to mental health drug and alcohol, we would love you to come to the forum to see how you can become involved,” she said.
