Contingency plans are in place at Parkes Hospital in the event of a power failure due to the malfunctioning of its emergency generator.
Lachlan Health Services Manager Liz Mitchell said that at this stage elective surgeries will go ahead, however some may need to be moved to Forbes.
Emergency surgery will be transferred to Forbes or Orange Hospitals.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank the community for their concern and patience while we work to have the generator repaired,” she said.
“We expect the generator to be fully operational again by mid next week so that our services can resume as normal”.
Hospital staff and emergency services have been advised.
