Walgett Health Council Needs You

Health Councils provide an opportunity for people of the community to work with Health Service Managers and planners to identify the needs of their community and the services that are required.

Walgett Health Council currently has vacancies on its council and is seeking interest from members of the community.

Health Council members are committed to giving their community a voice on issues that affect the health and well-being of the community’s citizens.

Walgett Health Service Manager, Stephen Joyce is encouraging people from all walks of life to apply to be a member on the Health Council.

“They do not need to have health professional experience. In fact, applicants without a health professional background are most welcome as they are able to bring a truly independent consumer perspective to their role” Stephen Joyce said.

At a minimum, membership requires attendance to monthly Health Council meetings, but there is also opportunity to participate on committees and workshops associated with your personal interest.

The Health Council is also seeking youth representatives so would encourage some of our younger community members to apply. Due to the diversity of the Health Council they are also seeking Aboriginal Members, as well overseas born Members.

For an application kit or to find out more information contact Stephen Joyce, Health Service Manager, on 02 6828 6000 or via email at  sjoyce@gwahs.health.nsw.gov.au
