Carers in Coonamble Shire will be able to get the latest information and find out what services are available when they attend the “Coonamble Carers Day Out” being held on Wednesday, 23 March 2011.
Coonamble Carers Day Out is an opportunity for service providers to talk to local carers and provide them with information, flyers and available services they can tap into to help guide and support them in their caring journey,” said Ms Lyndall Jones, Carer Support Coordinator for Western NSW Local Health Network.
She has been working in partnership with Ms Anne Wiatkowski, Coonamble Health Service in the coordination of service providers to provide the Coonamble Shire with a carer information expo.
‘We have had an over whelming response with Centrelink, Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Service, Dementia Carer Respite, Coonamble Home Care, Centacare and many more wanting to be a part of the day,” said Ms Jones.
“It’s very exciting to get all the service providers together under one roof so carers can come have a chat and see what they have to offer.”
Ms Jones said carers have been a huge focus of late with the passing of the Carers Recognition Bill in mid 2010.
“Carers play a massive role and help their love ones by supporting them to live independently in the local community,” she said.
‘Western Local Health Network and Coonamble Health have seen a need in their community to inform carers of what services are available for them.”
Western Local Health Network extends an invitation for all family, carers and friends to come along to the day and meet the service providers.
Coonamble Carers Day Out will be held at the Coonamble Bowling Club Auditorium, Aberford St, Coonamble on Wednesday 23 March from 9.30am - 2pm.
