Gulgong residents can now have their teeth treated locally with the recent installation of modern new dental equipment at Gulgong HealthOne. Dentists and Dental/Oral Health Therapists from Mudgee Community Dental Clinic will be providing services in Gulgong on the second Wednesday of each month from Wednesday 14 May.
Gulgong Health Council Chairman, Peter Doran said he is very pleased with the announcement.
“This is something the Health Council has advocated for since the opening of the HealthOne,” Mr Doran said.
Western NSW Local Health District Director of Dental Services, Jennifer Floyd is also excited that the Gulgong community will be able to receive dental services in their own town.
“The new service means that in many cases Gulgong residents will not need to travel to Mudgee for public dental care” she said.
The new dental chair has been funded by the Centre for Oral Health Strategy, NSW with the remaining equipment funded through the Commonwealth Voluntary Dental Graduate Year Program and Oral Health Therapist Graduate Year Program.
Adults and children who are currently on a waiting list for a dental appointment can access the new service. The clinics will be run by appointment with patients booked in advance by the Health District’s Oral Health Service.
The dental services provided will be free of charge and can be accessed by all children. Adults must have a Centrelink concessions card to use the service.
People wishing to access the dental service at either Mudgee or Gulgong should contact the Dental Contact Centre on 1300 552 626 with their Medicare Card details. Adults you will also need your Centrelink Concession Card details when making an appointment.
