Central West Welcomes New Obstetrics And Gynaecology Specialists

Three obstetrics and gynaecology specialists have recently been appointed at Orange Health Service.

Catherine Nowlan, General Manager Orange Health Service said Doctors Katrina Green, Dianne Avery and Pamela Cardoza have joined the current team of specialists, allowing the health service to rely less on locum doctors to provide obstetrics and gynaecology services.

She said the extra specialists also mean important outreach services to Parkes and Cowra can be provided.

“The specialists will join Drs Ron Vaughan and Sachin Kotasthane and will ensure Orange Health Service can provide ongoing high quality obstetrics and gynaecology services both in Orange and outlying areas,” she said.

Dr Avery, who comes from New Zealand, has always had an interest in working in rural settings. She has a special interest in pelvic floor problems and has also worked in a Pelvic Floor Unit in Melbourne.

“Working in a rural centre allows me to get to know colleagues and patients much better,” she said.

“Orange Health Service has wonderful obstetrics and gynaecology facilities and I’ve been very impressed with the staff who are clearly passionate about providing the best possible care for patients.”

Dr Cardoza has been an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in India, UK and USA before coming to Australia. She is excited to join our health system and is hopeful to bring her multicultural experience in the speciality to the benefit of women in the Orange community.

Dr Cardoza has a special interest in outpatient procedures and laparoscopic surgery in addition to providing high quality obstetric care.

Dr Katrina Green started at Orange Health Service as a Senior Registrar. She has progressed in her career and now has private rooms as a Consultant in Orange as well as continuing to support the obstetrics team as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO). She said she is excited to be part of the team looking after womens’ health in Orange.

“The health care of women in the Orange community will benefit from the close knit obstetrics and gynaecology unit as we are passionate about womens’ health and believe in effective team work,” she said.

Appointments with a gynaecology and obstetrics specialist are available by referral.
