Western NSW Local Health District is pleased to announce that Sue Patterson has been appointed as the new General Manager for Bathurst Health Service.
Ms Patterson comes to Bathurst with a wealth of experience in health and hospital management, including seven years as Director of Nursing at Orange Hospital, as well as various executive roles in Sydney hospitals and health services for eight years prior to that.
“I first came to the central west for the opportunity to be involved with the building of the new Orange Hospital and thoroughly enjoyed that experience as the Director of Nursing and Midwifery,” Ms Patterson said.
“It’s been great to live in the country and work in a regional health setting, which is quite different than working in a metropolitan hospital, and I look forward to continuing this in my new role as General Manager at Bathurst Hospital”.
Ms Patterson said her new position is the next step in her career and that the team at Bathurst Hospital have been very welcoming since her appointment earlier this month.
“I am looking forward to assisting in the continued development of Bathurst Hospital and leading the team here to deliver high patient care for the Bathurst community,” she said.
“My focus will be looking at new innovative models of care, embracing evidence based practice and ensuring what we meet the health needs of the community”.
Chair of Bathurst Health Council John Kellett said the Health Council welcomes the appointment of Sue Patterson and the wealth of experience she brings to the position of General Manager.
“Sue's focus on new models of care and her team approach will greatly benefit the Bathurst Health Service,” Mr Kellett said.
Health District Director of Operations Lindsey Gough said Ms Patterson’s extensive experience and passion for quality patient care makes her ideal for the role of General Manager.
“We are delighted with Sue’s appointment and wish her every success in her new role,” she said.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Director of Nursing Bradley Molenkamp for acting in the General Manager role while we were recruiting”.
Ms Patterson said she believes health is a customer focused industry and patients and their family need to be engaged by health staff in all aspects of their health care.
“I can’t wait to meet the community served by Bathurst Hospital and to work with them and the team of clinicians and support staff here to keep people as healthy as possible,” she said.
