Coonabarabran Health Council would like to thank those who supported the success of the Men’s Health Night last month.
On behalf of the Coonabarabran Health Council Tracey Wood, Coonabarabran Health Service Acting Health Service Manager, would like to extend an enormous thank you to the Binnaway Lion’s Club, Centacare Bathurst, Catholic Community Service, The House with No Steps and those who volunteered their time to the night.
The funding received from the Australian Government’s Drought Assistance Package for social support across the Warrumbungle Shire enabled the event to be financially supported.
Guest speakers on the night were Neal ‘the drover’ Jones, Western NSW LHD Clinical Nurse Consultant Andrew Whale, and performer Angry Anderson, who were all very well supported with over 100 Men from our community attending the event and many taking the opportunity to receive free health checks.
Five lucky attendees were each the recipients of a $50 gift voucher from local businesses as lucky door prizes.
“Many came not really knowing what to expect from the night but left armed with information and resources,” Tracy said.
“The comments from the crowd on the night and afterwards were that it was enjoyed by all, with the highlight being Angry Anderson.
“One particular comment I have since received from a local man who told me that since the event he was able to use the information he learnt on the night to help a mate, which is really what the night was all about, and this makes the organisers really proud”.
Coonabarabran Health Council Members are looking forward to organising more events for the benefit of our local communities in the future.
