Dubbo Prostate Cancer Support Group Help With New Equipment

The Dubbo Prostate Cancer Support Group is extremely pleased to hand over a cheque for $16,000 to purchase a Bladder Scanner for Dubbo Health Service.

Dubbo Prostate Cancer Support Group spokesperson, John Allen, said the group was overwhelmed with the generosity from the Dubbo community in helping raise money for purchasing new equipment.

“I would particularly like to thank Club Dubbo, Sporties Dubbo, Bunnings, and the Binnaway Cancer Fund for their fantastic support,” Mr Allen said.

The Bladder Scanner is a vital non-invasive diagnostic tool which will be used by the Urology Staff Specialist, Dr Indrajit, in assessing bladder capacity and function for people with prostate cancer and other urinary tract disorders.

Dr Indrajit said he is delighted the Dubbo Prostate Cancer Support Group have been able to raise money for this new equipment following on from their assistance in purchasing a TUR tray with the Marty Gordon Memorial Committee in 2013.

“I have been amazed by the generosity shown by the people of Dubbo and surrounding towns since moving here,” Dr Indrajit said.

“The donations for equipment such as this are a great boost for the doctors and staff who are able to treat their patients more effectively.”

Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton was pleased to be on hand to congratulate the Dubbo Prostate Cancer Support Group on their generous donation.

“This Group has done an amazing job in raising and contributing significant funds to a valuable and much needed piece of medical equipment for the local community,” Mr Coulton said.
