Have you started 2016 with a resolution to improve your lifestyle, eating, fitness or overall health? February 15 – 21 is Australia’s Healthy Weight Week and Dubbo Community Health Centre dietitians will be holding an information stall on Tuesday, 16 February to provide advice and support to the Dubbo community.
According to Dubbo Community Health Centre Dietitian, Leslie Tang, having support and the correct information dramatically increases your chances of success.
“Australia’s Healthy Weight Week helps raise awareness of the importance of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and a healthy lifestyle,” Mr Tang said.
With statistics for overweight and obesity as high as 63% in Australian adults and 25% in Australian Children and health problems such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and some cancers becoming more common, it has never been a better time to improve your family’s health, eating, weight and fitness.
This session includes a series of activities such as comparing fat and sugar contents of common foods, learning how to read food labels, tours of Orana Mall Woolworths to check out the healthy and unhealthy options on our supermarket shelves and having your Body Mass Index (BMI) measured to indicate risk of lifestyle related health problems.
The event will also provide an excellent opportunity to meet your local dietitians, get updated and correct nutrition information, see the variety of programs run in your community for adults and children to improve health, provide the opportunity to schedule a private dietitian consultation as well as lots of freebies and giveaways!
The event will be held at the Orana Mall near Rockmans and Woolworths supermarket on Tuesday, 16 February from 9am to 1pm.
