The Physiotherapy Department at Walgett Multipurpose Service (MPS) has commenced water fitness classes with a number of patients in the Walgett area.
Thanks to generous donations from Walgett Quilters, the MPS has been able to purchase pool equipment which will assist physiotherapists help patients with chronic pain and decreased mobility to improve strength and flexibility without the need for high impact exercises.
Walgett Health Service Manager, Kevin Behm, said donations from the Walgett Quilters have certainly been well received, and the MPS is extremely grateful for their generosity.
“This new pool equipment will greatly assist patients in need of low impact exercises, and we are extremely thankful to have such support from the Walgett community in helping raise the needed funds,” Mr Behm said.
“As Health Service Manager of the Walgett MPS, I’d like to personally thank everyone for their time and commitment in raising this money for such important equipment.”
Patients identified as being able to benefit from water fitness classes by physiotherapists and allied health assistants at Walgett MPS, have been invited to join in, with classes run at Walgett Memorial Swimming Pool.
“We are also extremely grateful for the support shown to us by the Walgett Shire Council, who has allowed us to use their facilities for the benefit of patients,” Mr Behm said.
“This has truly been a demonstration of what the community can achieve together and I am very excited to see the equipment put to good use.”
