Gulgong Women Encouraged To Take Advantage Of Health Clinic

Gulgong Multipurpose Service (MPS) are conducting monthly free self-referral women’s health clinics for women in the local community.

The health clinic is available to all women and offers cervical screening (pap test), breast awareness, contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening, pregnancy and menopause counsellingservices.

Gulgong MPS Health Service Manager Judith Ford said it’s wonderful that local women can access a women’s health clinic in Gulgong without having to travel.

“It is vital for all women to have access to health services closer to home,” Ms Ford said.

“Women aged between 18 and 69 who have ever been sexually active need to have a pap test every two years to ensure any abnormal cells are detected early.”

Ms Ford encourages local women to make the most of the opportunity of a health clinic in Gulgong.

“Early detection is the key to improving the survival rates of both breast and cervical cancer and mammograms and pap smears detect cancers before any symptoms are apparent,” Ms Ford said.

Clinics are held monthly each Wednesday and bookings can be made by phoning (02) 6374 3400 or dropping into Gulgong HealthOne on Goolma Road.
