Gulgong MPS Health Council Seeking Members

Health Councils provide an opportunity for people in the local community to work with Health Service Managers and their staff to identify the needs of their community and the services that are required.

Gulgong Multipurpose Service (MPS) Health Council currently has five vacancies and is seeking interest from members of the community to join. A total of 12 places make up membership of the Health Council.

Health Council Chairperson, Peter Doran said Health Council members are committed to giving their community a voice on issues that affect their health and wellbeing.

“Over the past few years, the Health Council has facilitated the provision of a new facility,” Mr Doran said.

“Our priorities for the next two years include responding to the changing health needs of the Gulgong community.”

Gulgong MPS Health Service Manager, Judith Ford is encouraging people from all walks of life and different age groups to apply to be a member of the Health Council.

“People interested in joining our Health Council do not need experience in the health industry. In fact, applicants without a health professional background are most welcome as they are able to bring a truly independent consumer perspective to the role,” Ms Ford said.

“We are encouraging people of all ages and from all backgrounds to apply to ensure a range of viewpoints and perspectives are brought to the group.”

“Our young people can bring lots of fresh ideas and new ways of doing things in our local community, so we really urge people of all ages to get involved.”

At a minimum, membership requires attendance at monthly Health Council meetings, and an interest to participate in committees, workshops and associated Health Council projects and initiatives.
