Junior Medical Officer training occurs at Dubbo and Orange Health Services, with the opportunity to do a full two (2) year internship and residency in either Dubbo or Orange. Click the location to download their JMO fact sheet.

This experience will give you a firm foundation of general medical and surgical terms, and subspecialty terms, from which to embark upon specialty training or move into training in General Practice.  JMO information sessions and applications start mid year.  For further information please see NSW Health JMO Recruitment.

Orange Teaching Hospital

Orange Health Service is a 270‐bed major rural referral hospital and the regional trauma centre servicing 300,000 people. The hospital has just celebrated 10 years since relocating to the Bloomfield campus – the largest rural campus in the Southern Hemisphere.

Orange has a strong emphasis on high quality education for JMOs – resources  experiences to support clinical skill development include:  weekly PGY1 education | grand rounds |  simulation skills lab | vocational courses and workshops | 24-hour library | e-learning modules  | support by senior staff

Dubbo Teaching Hospital

Recently completed its $250 million + redevelopment, Dubbo hospital is a fabulous environment in which to train.  Emergency medicine is an extremely popular term, guaranteed to provide hands on and procedural exposure in a fast paced clinical environment. Many past trainees have obtained competitive metropolitan training positions in emergency, medicine and surgery.

We maintain a strong partnership with HETI, offering SRMO’s exposure to anaesthetics, emergency and obstetrics & gynaecology career pathways.

We are passionate about seeing our trainees meet their career goals, whether that means further training with the College for Emergency Medicine, entry into a Specialist Training Program, or pursuing rural and remote practice as a Rural Generalist.

Undertaking your Internship and Resident training at Dubbo Health Service will provide you with unmatched hands-on experience in clinical medicine in a supportive team environment – all in a beautiful and evolving regional city!
