The Collarenebri Multipurpose Health Service (MPS) provides acute and residential care with, 3 emergency beds, 3 acute care beds, 9 long stay beds and 1 Respite bed. NSW Ambulance Service is co-located and assist in emergency as needed.
The General Practitioner (GP) service is also co-located and provides acute and emergency care for the MPS along with General Practice Services for the Community.
Collarenebri MPS in partnership with RaRMS, Walgett Aboriginal Medical Services and the Royal Flying and AMIHS from Moree provides a range of services to the community. These service include: Dental Services, Podiatrist Services, Maternal and Infant Care, Early Childhood and Immunisation Services, Optometrist Services and Counselling Services.
Outreach Services from Western NSW Local Health District include: Radiology Services, Women’s Health, Mental Health, Sexual Assault Counselling, Drug and Alcohol Counselling, Sexual Health Counselling, Physiotherapy, Diabetic Education and Support Services and Dietician Services.
Probation and Parole and other Government and Non-Government Organisation are able to request the use of interview rooms as required.
Collarenebri MPS has video conferencing facilities that enable patients and community members to assess services at other Health Care Facilities.

Collarenebri is on the Barwon River, in North Western NSW and is part of the Walgett Shire Local Government Area (LGA), it is considered remote on the ARIA scale (ABS). Collarenebri is located 105 kms south of the Queensland border, 74 kms from Walgett; 145 kms from Moree; 171 kms from Narrabri and 355 kms from Dubbo (major rural referral hospital). Collarenebri is approximately 800kms northwest of Sydney and 800kms southwest of Brisbane. The town’s industries include, cotton ginning, grazing (cattle and sheep) and wheat growing.
Collarenebri was originally known as “Collarindabri,” the Aboriginal name for “place of many flowers”.
Collarenebri is considered one of the best inland fishing locations in Australia and is ideal for water skiing. A weir across the river, just half a kilometre out of town, is a popular site. It provides for excellent boating upstream and good fishing downstream. Other leisure activities include, water sports, swimming, golf, pistol club and lawn bowls. Fossicking in one of the several gravel pits around the town, for quartz, topaz, agate, petrified wood and other materials is also a much sort after activity among locals and tourists.
The Aboriginal cemetery, just out of the town, is unique. A tour arranged with our Aboriginal Primary Health Care Workers, who know its history, is a rare and delightful experience. In addition a visit to the sacred Aboriginal sites such as the carved trees at Collymongle Station is also a unique experience. An organised tour to local cotton farms and associated gins can also be arranged.
Local businesses include Khan’s Supermarket, butchers, pharmacy, B&W Rural, fuel station, Chowny’s Café, Back Roads coffee shop, post office, library, bowling club, swimming pool and Tattersalls Hotel/Motel.
