Dubbo Health Service is a large rural referral service, situated 450kms North West of Sydney. The Health Service has a 160 acute bed inpatient service, Emergency Department and provides nearly 200,000 specialist outpatient appointments per year. Dubbo Primary and Community Health Centre is currently located off site and also provide services to the catchment population.
Dubbo Health Service referral network (usual referral and discharge relationships) is the largest in the LHD supporting the towns of Dubbo, Baradine, Brewarrina, Collarenebri, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Coonamble, Dunedoo, Gilgandra, Gulargambone, Gulgong, Lightning Ridge, Mudgee, Narromine, Nyngan, Peak Hill, Tottenham, Trangie, Walgett, Warren and Wellington.
Lourdes Hospital (Rehabilitation) and Dubbo Private Hospital are close by. Dubbo Health Service has a Service Level Agreement to provide Rehabilitation and Palliative care services. The Royal Flying Doctor Service has a base in Dubbo, and Sydney University School of Rural Health is situated on campus.
Dubbo Health Service is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. In order to meet the changing health demands in our community and our growing population, we need a health service that can adapt and grow with us.
The Dubbo community has an increasing number of elderly people, Aboriginal people and people living with chronic and complex conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The redevelopment will allow us to deliver the clinical services and level of care that everyone in our community deserves.
The redevelopment will provide us with a state-of-the-art platform from which we can integrate the latest services and technologies over the next 5 – 10 years.

Dubbo is a vibrant regional city situated on the banks of the majestic Macquarie River in Central West NSW. Dubbo is home to the famous Taronga Western Plains Zoo which houses hundreds of rare and endangered animal species from around the world. In the centre of town you’ll find the heritage listed Old Dubbo Gaol and the wonderful Western Plains Cultural Centre which is both a renowned gallery and museum.
Shopping in Dubbo is fun with a huge array of boutique and specialty shops situated in the central business district and also at the Orana Mall on the Mitchell Highway. Accommodation options are tremendous along with the many cafes and restaurants scattered throughout the city. Sporting facilities and events are always in abundance in Dubbo, there really is a sport for everyone to enjoy. There are numerous parks where family can relax, take a picnic, and sit on the grassy areas alongside the picturesque Macquarie River. The Tracker Riley walking track also takes locals and visitors on a memorable journey along the river, walking, jogging or riding a bike.
