Nyngan Multipurpose Service (MPS) has a two bed Emergency Department and accesses world class support from the District’s VCare Unit based in Dubbo. Critical Care is supported via the Critical Care Advisory Service which provides all clinicians caring for critically ill patients in Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) with direct access to our emergency/critical care specialists via a state of the art videoconferencing system.
Nyngan MPS has thirty six residential aged care beds (RAC) and offers inpatient renal dialysis 3 days a week (currently one shift per day). The team at Nyngan are committed to providing safe, high quality person centred care and embrace Living Well Principals for Aged Care Facilities. Nyngan MPS won the inspiring team of the Year across the LHD in 2018 for their commitment to quality and safety and in 2019 won the LHD Patient Safety Award with the REACH Program.
While GP participation in the after hours/on call back roster is vital to providing care to our community, arrangements are in place to ensure VMOs enjoy a reasonable work-life balance and that on call rosters are not onerous. After hours support offered across WNSWLHD such as Patient Flow Services and the VRGS ensure that Nyngan Multi Purpose Service and WNSWLHDS can work with their VMOs to create an on-call roster that is both flexible and sustainable.
Community Health offers a 5 day per week service as well as having visiting services for Physiotherapy, Radiology (1 /per week) and Mental Health Councillor (2/per week). A VC service for patients is available for Specialists which negates the travelling to larger centres for appointments.
