Oberon Multipurpose Service (MPS) is a 21 bed health facility and has 8 acute care beds, 10 nursing home beds and 3 Emergency Department beds, operating 24 hours per day.
Oberon MPS offers a range of medical and paramedical services required by the local community who live in a wide geographical area and to support the needs of a large tourist population at certain times of the year.
Medical services include emergency and critical care, aged care, medical imaging, district nursing, community nursing, child and family health just to name a few. The facility also has visiting services including psychology, speech pathology, drug and alcohol, children’s dental and women’s health.
Medical Services are provided by Visiting Medical Officers (VMO’s) who provide a twenty four hour medical service which is on call for emergencies.

Oberon is situated approximately 180 kms west of Sydney on the western side of the Great Dividing Range in the Central Tablelands. At over 1100 metres above sea level, Oberon is 40 minutes from Bathurst. The township has a wonderful true mountain climate and can experience snow through the winter months. The name “Oberon” comes from Shakespeares “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
The main industry in Oberon is forestry, timber processing to finished product. Oberon also has a strong farming history with prime lambs and beef cattle being the main rural industry. The newest industry in Oberon is tourism.
