Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment

The $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment is an exciting project that will provide a major upgrade to the health service’s ageing infrastructure.

Project benefits:

The new $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital will provide a modern upgrade to the existing health service and more contemporary facilities and integrated models of health care. The new building will house all of the existing hospital services including Community Health in the new building. Services in the new hospital building will include:

  • An Emergency Department
  • An Inpatient Unit (IPU)
  • Operating Theatres
  • A Maternity Unit
  • Outpatient services including:
    • Community Health
    • Physiotherapy
    • Mental Health
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Oral Health (dental clinic)
    • Renal Dialysis and Oncology

The Mudgee Hospital will also have, for the first time, a CT scanner.

The upgraded Mudgee Health Service will continue to be a health services hub for people living in the Mid-Western Regional Local Government Area, and meet their health service needs through to 2027.

Where are we up to?

Following the Operational Commencement (May 2020) and the Official Opening (July 2020) of the new $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital the remaining works are nearing completion to realise the masterplan for the Mudgee Health Service.

The demotion of the old hospital is now complete and the focus will be the removal of building material and levelling of the site. Once this work is complete the focus will now move to completing the car park and the access road from Lewis Street.

The final work will be the landscaping to create green open space on the footprint of the old hospital.
