The $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment is an exciting project that will provide a major upgrade to the health service’s ageing infrastructure.
Seeking Local Aboriginal Artists
Western NSW Local Health District is pleased to invite local Aboriginal artists to participate in a Mudgee Aboriginal Artwork and Signage project to be on display in the new Mudgee Hospital building. Featuring local Aboriginal artwork in the new hospital is an opportunity for the artist to showcase their work and be part of building a strong cultural connection between our hospital and our Aboriginal community.
To discuss your participation or for more information please e-mail or call Jo-Anne Whitson by 4.30pm Friday 27 March, 2020
on 0439 498 897 or JoAnne.Whitson@health.nsw.gov.au

Where are we up to?
The Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment project received planning approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in December 2018. To view the State Significant Development Application and related documents CLICK HERE
Early works, including demolition of a number of old buildings to make way for the new hospital, was completed on site in March 2019. The tender for Main Works was awarded to Hutchinson Builders, who commenced construction of the new facility in March 2019.
Importantly, all current hospital, community health and dental clinic services will continue throughout the redevelopment period.
The hospital has worked closely with the Mid-Western Regional Council and a range of local businesses, community groups, staff and residents during the planning phases of the project. We appreciate their involvement and support and look forward to continuing to work with them during the construction phase.
The design for the new facility was developed with input from staff, clinicians, patient user groups and the broader Mudgee community.
The Schematic Design plans and images are available below. The redevelopment project team is also available to present details of the design to local groups and organisations.
The project team has also sought suggestions and ideas from local stakeholders on the kind of art they would like to see in the new hospital. An Art Working Group will be established in 2019 to progress the development of the Art Strategy.
