Our Health District is divided into a number of Directorates which represent the key functions of our organisation.

Hi, my name is Scott McLachlan, Chief Executive of Western NSW Local Health District.

I work closely with our stakeholders to deliver the best possible health care to our local communities.

Our District ​​​Board, our Health C​ouncils and all staff in our organisation, including nursing and midwifery, administrative, medical, community health, allied health, and support services, are committed to providing world class care where our patients are at the centre of everything we do.

Our Directorates

Allied Health

Richard Cheney, Director of Allied HealthThe Allied Health Directorate is responsible for nutrition and dietetics, occupational therapy and diversional therapy, pharmacy, physiotherapy, psychology, social work and client support services and speech pathology and audiology.

The Director of Allied Health is Richard Cheney.

Clinical Go​vernance

Photo; Di Wykes, Director of Clincial GovernanceClinical Governance is the “system by which the governing body, managers and clinicians share responsibility and are held accountable for patient care, minimising risks to consumers and for continuously monitoring and improving the quality of clinical care.” (ACHS, 2004)

The primary focus of the Clinical Governance Directorate is to monitor and support patient centered improvements to patient safety, incident reporting and investigations, clinical risk management and clinical quality.

The Director of Clinical Governance is Di Wykes.

Communications and Engagement

Photo; Rachel Buchanan, Director of Communications and Engagement The Communications and Engagement Directorate is responsible for the management of media, corporate communications, community engagement, ministerial liaison, social media, corporate branding, executive publications, internet and staff intranet development, volunteers and fundraising, communication strategies, parliamentary briefs, event management and marketing.

The Director of Communications and Engagement is Kathy Connell​.

Corporate Services

Photo; Jeff Morrisey, Director of Corporate ServicesThe Corporate Services Directorate is responsible for asset operations, biomedical services, capital works projects, contracts and property management, energy management, environmental services, food services, security, fire safety, fleet management, maintenance services, purchasing and supply and management of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Spotless.

The Director of Corporate Services is Jeff Morrissey.

Finance

Photo; Josh Carey, Director of Finance The Finance Directorate aims to provide timely and accurate financial information to Local Health District staff to better enable best practice management decisions, and is responsible for accounts, budgeting and management reporting, financial operations, revenue and salary benefits.

The Director of Finance is Josh Carey.

Integrated Primary Care and Partnerships

Photo; Julie Cooper Director of Integrated Primary Care and PartnershipsIntegrated Primary Care and Partnerships facilitates the priorities and key directions for the Local Health District to ensure primary and community health is well positioned to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities into the future​ and includes working with external partners to ensure integrated service provision.

The Director of Integrated Primary Care and Partnerships is Julie Cooper.

Medical Services

Photo; Clayton Spencer, District Director of Medical ServicesThe Medical Services Directorate is composed of all senior medical staff contracted to work in any facilities within the Local Health District. Responsibilities of the District Director of Medical Services centres around clinical governance of this group and includes, but is not limited to, medical leadership, clinical quality and safety surveillance, management of medical professional matters and advice on service design. The Medical Services Directorate includes the Medical Workforce Unit which is responsible for the administrative functions associated with recruitment of senior medical staff.

The District Director of Medical Services is Dr Clayton Spencer.

Nursing and Midwifery

The Director of Nursing and Midwifery is Adrian Fahy.

Operations

Photo; Lindsey Gough, Director of OperationsThe Operations Directorate is responsible for steering the day to day operations of our health facilities to ensure patients receive high quality care and that our Local Health District provides timely services as close to the patient’s home as possible.

The Director of Operations is Lindsey Gough.

Population Health

Photo; Therese Jones, Director of Population HealthThe focus of Population Health, rather than on an individual client or patient, is the population as a whole. While traditionally Public Health (now referred to as Health Protection) includes the areas of immunisation, communicable diseases and environmental health, population health includes programs such as health promotion, HIV and related programs (HARP), and ethics, research and governance.

The Director of Population Health is Dr Thérése Jones.

Workforce and Culture
