Caring for our whole community
Multicultural Health Communication Services addresses the need for the development of a coordinated statewide approach to provide information about health issues and health services to people who speak languages other than English.
The work of the service is guided by a high level Advisory Committee and a Multilingual Information Committee.
You can find a wealth of health resources by language, on their website.
The Health Care Interpreter Service provides professional interpreters to facilitate communication between health professionals and their clients who have limited English or are deaf.
Using a professional interpreter ensures that:
- Accurate information is transmitted
- Patients are able to make informed decisions about their health care
- Informed consent is obtained
You can learn more on the Health Care Interpreter Service website
