Caring for you, at home or on holiday
Renal services across our district provide both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for people in our communities and for people visiting from other areas or from interstate.
There are two main dialysis units located at Dubbo and Orange providing haemodialysis for local people and for holiday dialysis.
Holiday dialysis is dependent on the availability of dialysis chairs and bookings are essential, so please contact the unit you would like to dialyse in when you begin to plan for a holiday.
Bathurst and Forbes also provide haemodialysis, however holiday dialysis is not always available at these units.
Some small facilities north and west of Dubbo provide haemodialysis also. Dialysis machines are only available for local community residents; holiday dialysis is not available at these sites. Please contact the Dubbo dialysis unit if you are wishing to visit a town in this area.
Renal services also care for people on peritoneal dialysis and those on home dialysis with nursing and medical clinics held throughout the district.
The service also has renal dietitians, welfare officers and Aboriginal Health Workers services available for patients.
If you require information about dialysis, kidney disease and/or transplantation, we have staff that will be able to assist you with verbal and written material. Kidney Health Australia can also provide you with information and resources.
